India is transforming at a rapid pace and our demographic dividend is expected to play a significant role in enhancing this pace of development in the country. Women comprise a most crucial component of this demographic advantage.
NITI Aayog recognises the importance of women’s role and participation for reaping the benefits of this advantage, and turning it into a dividend. The country, therefore, needs to consciously work towards increasing participation of women in the various sectors of the economy. This will also go a long way in ensuring India’s overall development.
NITI Aayog’s campaign ‘Women Transforming India’, launched along with UN in India and MyGov, celebrates this socio-economic transformation across the country. As part of this on-going effort, we are pleased to announce a live interaction with NITI Aayog Member, noted economist and author, Mr. Bibek Debroy.
Scheduled to take place on Monday, April 4th, 2016 at 2 pm, Mr. Debroy’s interaction will address a wide range of issues including difference between old and new economies and how new (internet & Mobile) technologies are lowering barriers and enabling wider participation, the correlation between investment in women and child development and India’s growth, role of new technologies in enabling cross sector participation by women and other underrepresented sections of society.
