Union Minister says Skill India Mission covers over 1Cr Youth

Rajiv Pratap RudyUnion Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge) and Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Pratap Rudy said that more than one crore people have been trained under Skill India Mission in 2015-16. He said that the number of youth went under training is increased by 36.8 percent in 2015-16.  He was briefing media at a press conference in New Delhi today on the completion of two years of Narendra Modi Government.

The Minister said that the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship offered  60 percent of direct training while 40 percent  are across other Central Ministries. Rudy said that under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) more than 20 lakh youths were trained. The PMKVY was launched by the Prime Minister on July 15, 2015.

The Minister said, a slew of policy level changes has been introduced with the launch of National Skill Development Policy and Mission as well. Today, Rudy said there are more than 1500 courses that have been aligned to the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF). He said that the government has initiated major programmes such as Make in India, Digital India, Smart Cities and much more. Rudy said that his Ministry has inked MoU with many Railways, Defence, Health, Power , Coal, Telecom for skill development and infrastructure.
