Private bus owners called off proposed bus strike on Monday after discussing with Odisha ministers at a meeting convened at State Secretariat in Bhubaneswar. The bus owners called indefinite strike from December 1 opposing hike in the motor vehicle tax.
The motor vehicle tax was hiked by Odisha cabinet recently, which has been opposed by the owners of the bus owners. They were also opposing plying of city business connecting to Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri by DTS services.
Odisha Transport Minister Ramesh Majhi discussed with the representative of bus owners association over their concerns. The talks on Monday were successful after state government assuring to reconsider over the hike in the motor vehicle tax. Earlier, the talks were failed as a result the association member decided to go firm on the strike.
The state government would consider to discuss the concerns of the private bus owners in the assembly session going to start from Tuesday, (Dec 1).
