In these times when social media is abuzz with people coming out to find & share covid- resources, finding verified and timely help has become more important than ever. In such a scenario, United by Blood has come out as a hope for those searching for credible plasma donors. It is a step towards creating the largest repository for plasma & facilitating real-time and seamless contact between donors & recipients.

Those looking for plasma can register on UnitedByBlood.com and find verified Donors on their city-map. One can scroll down to filter active users on the basis of their location, blood group & date of recovery. The next step is to click & call the donor who meets your requirements.

As an individual who has defeated covid, you may check your eligibility and register as a donor. One unique feature of the platform is that donors can actively look out for those in need of plasma near them & reach out to them directly. The idea behind this feature is to minimize communication gap & optimize the plasma donation process.

The GPS-enabled & extremely user-friendly platform, makes it very easy to connect with people real-time.

The second wave of Covid has hit us harder than we ever imagined. While lakhs of people are getting infected every day, many are getting very critical. Plasma therapy has proved to be life-saving in many such cases. Yet, people everywhere are struggling to find plasma. Social media is flooded with plasma requests. Phones are ringing constantly.

The fact is that a majority of those who get Covid positive recover, so there should be lacs of people who are eligible donors. Why, then, do we find ourselves in this situation? Where is the gap?

United by Blood is an initiative that connects the donors directly with the patients, making plasma donation a very simple process that helps save lives without losing critical time in looking for plasma. A not-for-profit mission driven by IAS Officer Abhishek Singh & SIGMA (an independent thinktank), is already getting viral on social media & has seen 500+ registrations in the four days of its launch. Bollywood celebrities are coming together and supporting the cause in their own way. While Badshah made an appeal to his fans in an emotional video, Punjabi-singer Gurnazar composed a track “khoon ka rishta” for the platform. Celebrities such as Guru Randhawa, Urvashi Rautela & B-Braak have also urged eligible donors to register on the platform.

“There are many requirements of the patients who need plasma – the eligibility of the donor, the location, and timely blood plasma transfusion. It is to close these gaps that the idea of this portal under United by Blood was conceived. We’re very happy that dozens of plasma donations have already been facilitated through the platform & majority of the donors are youngsters under the age of 30”, said IAS Abhishek Singh.

At a time of crisis like this, United by Blood is a way for us to look beyond our divisions of nationality, region, caste, color or religion and be united for humanity. It is a mission that believes in peace, harmony, a sense of community & collective responsibility.
