Centre Says Fertiliser Supplies Fully Adequate to Support Farmers’ Needs

New Delhi, June 9: The Government of India has confirmed that the country holds sufficient fertiliser stocks to meet the needs of farmers across all regions, ensuring smooth availability during the ongoing agricultural cycle.

Officials stated that the current inventory levels of key fertilisers, including urea, DAP, and complex nutrients, are adequate to support seasonal demand and prevent any supply disruptions. The assurance comes as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to maintain stability in agricultural inputs and safeguard farmers’ interests.

The fertiliser distribution system continues to operate through a well-established supply chain involving domestic production, imports, and a nationwide distribution network. Authorities highlighted that coordinated planning between the Centre, states, and manufacturers has helped maintain balanced stock levels across regions.

The government also reiterated its commitment to ensuring timely availability of fertilisers at subsidised rates, aimed at supporting farmers’ income and maintaining agricultural productivity. Continuous monitoring of demand patterns and stock movement is being carried out to prevent shortages and address regional variations in consumption.

Agriculture remains a key pillar of India’s economy, and stable access to fertilisers plays a crucial role in supporting crop yields and food security. Officials noted that proactive stock management measures have been implemented to prepare for peak demand periods during the monsoon and sowing seasons.

Industry experts view the adequate stock position as a positive sign for the agriculture sector, helping reduce uncertainty for farmers and supporting stable input costs in the coming months.

The government reaffirmed that it will continue to closely monitor fertiliser availability and take necessary steps to ensure uninterrupted supply across the country.
