Riveting Annual KL Memorial Trophy Concludes on a High Note

New Delhi, February 2023: KL Deemed to be University hosted its much-awaited annual sports festival, Koneru Lakshmaiah Memorial Trophy 2023 at its Greenfield Campus in Vijayawada recently. This annual three-day-long event was organized by the Department of Physical Education of the University. The aim was to promote sportsmanship and instill the values of unity and togetherness among students. The Closing ceremony was graced by the presence of Chief Guest Dr. Tarun Kakani, President of the AP Adventure Association, and Dr. Chappidi Hanumantha Rao, Dean Student Affairs, KLEF, who distributed the prizes to the winners.

A total of 75 teams, 904 players from four states, including Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Telangana, participated in various competitive games such as Badminton, Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Handball, Kabaddi, and Chess during the sports festival. Cash awards were given to the winning teams in various categories, Rs. 20,000 for first place, Rs. 15000 for second place, and Rs. 10000 for third place.

Congratulating the winner, Vice Chancellor Dr. G. Pardha Saradhi Varma said, “I am thrilled to witness the performance of the students. For the past eight years, the KL Sports Memorial trophy has been a much-awaited event among students. The purpose of hosting the fest is to provide encouragement and recognition to the talented players and bring them together under one roof. It provides students an opportunity to showcase their sporting talent and recognition for their competitiveness.”

In the women’s Kho-Kho category, the first prize was won by KL Deemed to be University Vaddeswaram, the second prize by Vignan University, and the third prize by Vignan Neerula.

In the men’s Kho-Kho category first prize was won by KL Deemed to be University Vaddeswaram, the second prize by Vignan University, third prize by KL Deemed to be University Vaddeswaram.

In Kabaddi, KL Deemed to be University, Vaddeswaram, won the first prize, the Vivekananda Engineering College, Hyderabad, won the second prize, and Mallareddy Institute of Technology, Hyderabad, won the third prize.

In the Badminton women’s singles category, the first prize was won by M. Nivetha from SRM University, Chennai, the second prize by Paladugu Keerthika from KL Deemed to be University, and the third prize by Pulivarthi Wincy from KL Deemed to be University.

In Badminton Men’s Singles, first prize went to H . Sabariswaram from SRM, IST, second prize to T. Yashwanth Balu from KL Deemed to be University Vaddeswaram, and third prize to YSS Sarvesh from SRM, IST.

In Badminton Men’s Doubles, first prize went to YSS Sarvesh, D. Nisanth of SRM, IST Chennai, second prize to T. Yashwanth Balu, Arpit Kumar Mishra of KL Deemed to be University Vaddeswaram, third prize to S. Dhanush and CH. Venkata Prasad of Narasaraopet Engineering College.

In the men’s Volleyball category, the first prize was won by Satyabhama University Chennai, the second prize by KL Deemed to be University, Vaddeswaram, and the third prize by Narasaraopet Engineering College.

In the Handball competition, the first prize was won by Helapuri of Technology Eluru, the second prize by KL Deemed to be University, Vaddeswaram, and the third prize by CR Reddy Engineering College, Eluru.

The event witnessed the presence of University officials, including Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr. N. Venkataram, Registrar Dr. A. Jagadish, Advisor Dr. Habibullah Khan, Dr. K. R. S. Prasad, Associate Dean Sports & Games Dr.K. Hari Kishore Head of the Sports Department, Dr. K. Sujatha, Sports teachers, and staff to encourage the participants.
