Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj Inspects BHEL’s Oxygen Plants in Haridwar

In view of the increased demand for medical oxygen across the country, Shri Satpal Maharaj, Cabinet Minister for Tourism, Cultural and Irrigation, Uttarakhand, has inspected the two Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) plants in Haridwar.

Though there is no shortage of oxygen in the state, Uttarakhand is playing an important role by ensuring other states in the country get the oxygen they need. Praising the efforts of BHEL, Shri Maharaj said, “We are very happy to see the industry players coming forward to help us in such difficult times. We request BHEL to consider increasing the capacity of the plant. I will also write a letter to Union Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar regarding the same.”

Shri Maharaj said that there is no shortage of oxygen in the state as the Jhabrera is producing 30 metric tonnes of oxygen while the current need is 16 metric tonnes. He said that instructions have been given to the officials regarding the third wave of Corona, and we are fully conscious about the lack of any kind of medicines or vaccines for children. Anticipating that the third wave may affect young children, preparations are being made.
