New Delhi, June 17: Urban development experts have emphasized that integrated mobility systems and transit-oriented development (TOD) will play a crucial role in shaping India’s urban future.
According to experts, rapidly growing cities in India are facing increasing pressure on infrastructure, transport networks, and housing systems. They noted that coordinated planning between transport and urban development is essential to reduce congestion, improve connectivity, and enhance quality of life.
Integrated mobility focuses on creating seamless connections between different modes of transport, including metro rail, buses, suburban trains, and last-mile connectivity solutions. Experts said that such systems can significantly improve travel efficiency and reduce dependence on private vehicles.
Transit-oriented development, which promotes high-density, mixed-use development around transport hubs, was highlighted as a key strategy for sustainable urban expansion. Experts stated that TOD can help reduce travel time, lower emissions, and encourage public transport usage.
