New Delhi, June 9: Solar-powered skill vans are emerging as powerful tools for expanding access to technology, education, and livelihood opportunities, helping bridge the gap between innovation and underserved communities, a Union Minister said.
Highlighting the impact of the initiative, the Minister noted that the mobile training units are taking modern learning directly to people, particularly in remote and rural areas where access to technical infrastructure and skill-development facilities remains limited.
Powered by clean solar energy, the vans serve as mobile learning centres equipped with digital tools, training resources, and practical learning modules. They are designed to provide hands-on exposure to emerging technologies while promoting renewable energy awareness and skill development.
“The objective is to ensure that technology and opportunities reach every corner of the country. These solar skill vans are empowering young people with knowledge, confidence, and practical skills that can improve their livelihoods and future prospects,” the Minister said.
The initiative is helping students, aspiring entrepreneurs, and job seekers gain access to training that would otherwise be difficult to obtain due to geographical or infrastructural barriers. By bringing learning directly to communities, the programme is fostering greater digital inclusion and supporting grassroots development.
