New Delhi, June 9: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has stated that Indians today travel abroad with greater confidence and a stronger sense of national pride, reflecting India’s expanding global footprint over the past 12 years.
Speaking on the occasion marking 12 years of the current government, the Minister highlighted how India’s international engagement has evolved, with citizens experiencing improved ease of travel, stronger diplomatic outreach, and greater global recognition.
He noted that increased connectivity, expanding economic opportunities, and stronger diplomatic networks have contributed to a more confident Indian diaspora and smoother international mobility for Indian travellers.
According to the remarks, India’s growing global presence is also reflected in the rising number of Indians studying, working, and conducting business abroad, supported by stronger institutional engagement from Indian missions worldwide.
The Minister emphasized that India’s foreign policy approach over the past decade has focused on strengthening partnerships, expanding global cooperation, and ensuring better support systems for Indian citizens overseas.
He further stated that this transformation reflects a broader shift in how India is perceived internationally, with Indian travellers increasingly seen as representatives of a rising global economy.
The comments underline the government’s emphasis on building a confident, globally connected India, where citizens are better equipped to engage with the world through travel, education, and professional opportunities.
Officials added that continued diplomatic engagement and policy reforms will further enhance the experience of Indian nationals abroad in the coming years.
