An orientation session was held for the new first-year students beginning their journey at Hansraj College of Delhi University. The program aimed to familiarize incoming students with the college’s history, traditions, as well as the various courses and aspects being offered here.
At the outset, the principal of the college, Prof. Rama, elaborated on the importance of college life, its meaningful utilization, and the essential elements required for building a vision. She urged the students to remain vigilant for academic excellence along with discipline, propriety, and the art of living, emphasizing the necessity of hard work and dedication to achieve their goals.
The vice-principal of the college, Prof. Vijay Rani Paliwal, introduced the newcomers to the college’s structures, facilities, and various committees and cells. She also shared insights into research, innovation, and the academic regulations, providing information about the college’s academic environment and its distinctive features.
Through an academic presentation, Dr. Animesh Naskar from the Economics Department effectively and engagingly presented details regarding the upcoming session’s question papers, curricula, and their stipulations. This presentation proved to be highly useful for students in planning for the next session. Additionally, Vaishali Verma, coordinator of the extracurricular activities committee, elaborated on the college’s cultural activities and the more than sixty committees available, while Dr. Rachna Sharma from the Physical Sciences Department discussed the sports facilities and related conditions. She also highlighted Hansraj College’s achievements in sports.
The college’s psychological counselors, Rachel and Mahak, raised awareness about mental health, encouraging students to openly share their problems in cases of mental pressure, stress, or depression. They assured the students that they would always be there to help resolve psychological issues and dilemmas.
The program commenced with the University Song and the DAV Anthem, and it concluded with a vote of thanks presented by the program coordinator, Vaishali Verma.
