Boosting Rail and Air Connectivity
PM Modi flagged off four new trains, including the Vande Bharat Express and Amrit Bharat trains, improving connectivity across northeastern Bihar. He also inaugurated the Araria–Galgalia rail line and laid the foundation for the Vikramshila–Kataria line, promising faster, more modern transport options for locals.
Taking a major leap in air travel for the region, PM Modi also inaugurated the new terminal at Purnea Airport, built in under five months. With the first commercial flight now launched, Purnea officially joins India’s aviation network, connecting remote Bihar to major cities.
Strengthening Bihar’s Energy Backbone
The Prime Minister inaugurated a 2,400 MW thermal power project in Bhagalpur—Bihar’s largest private sector investment in the energy sector. Built with low-emission technology, the plant is expected to significantly enhance electricity availability and reduce power shortages in the state.
Irrigation and Flood Control for Farmers
The Kosi–Mechi intra-state river linking project, with an investment of over ₹2,600 crore, aims to expand irrigation across lakhs of hectares and help tackle the region’s recurring floods. PM Modi said this long-awaited project will boost agricultural productivity and support Bihar’s farmers.
Housing for Thousands of Families
Over 40,000 families received keys to their new permanent homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, just in time for the festive season. PM Modi called it a “new beginning” for these families and reassured others still waiting that their turn would come soon.
“Until every poor citizen has a roof over their head, Modi will not stop,” he said, reaffirming the government’s commitment to the underprivileged.
A Big Win for Makhana Farmers
In a major announcement, the PM launched the National Makhana Board, fulfilling a promise made to Bihar’s farmers. With an investment of ₹475 crore, the board will work to improve makhana production, promote exports, and ensure better returns for local growers. Bihar produces nearly 90% of India’s makhana, making this a big boost for the region.
Empowering Rural Women
Recognizing the crucial role of women in Bihar’s transformation, PM Modi announced the release of ₹500 crore as part of a Community Investment Fund to support Self-Help Groups. This funding will give thousands of women new opportunities to build small businesses and become financially independent.
Festive Relief: Lower Prices for Essentials
Ahead of the festive season, PM Modi announced that from September 22, GST on essential daily-use items like soap, toothpaste, shampoo, ghee, food items, stationery, clothes, and shoes will be reduced, easing pressure on household budgets.
“When the government truly cares about the poor and middle class, it shows in their policies,” the PM said.
National Security and Infiltration Concerns
Touching on security, PM Modi warned about the impact of illegal infiltration in Seemanchal and other border regions. He assured the public that every infiltrator will be dealt with strictly, stating firmly:
“In India, it is the law of the land that will prevail—not the demands of infiltrators. This is Modi’s guarantee.”
A New Chapter for Bihar
The Prime Minister concluded by saying that Bihar’s development is now unstoppable, and that the days of neglect are over. He praised the people of Purnea and Seemanchal for their resilience and promised that the government’s focus will remain on infrastructure, opportunity, and dignity for all.
