“This festive season is already witnessing a close to 25% surge in employment compared to last year with new job additions across retail, e-commerce, logistics, and consumer goods segments. In the retail and consumer goods segment alone, nearly 1.08 lakh new net job additions are forecasted till the end of festive. While metros like Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi continue to lead in absolute demand, the sharper growth momentum is also reflective across Tier II and Tier III regions like Jaipur, Lucknow, Coimbatore, Indore, Bhubaneswar, Kochi, Surat, Nagpur, and Chandigarh. The majority of the new hiring is concentrated on roles like warehouse associates, delivery executives, customer support agents, sales associates, digital marketing specialists, and supply chain coordinators.
The higher demand influx has also added pressure on talent availability; however, companies are navigating these challenges well by deploying gig models, incentivizing on-role workforce and bringing more cross functionality between teams. Retail and consumer goods segments have also brought new gender parity, with festive recording increased women deployment by 15% on the retail frontlines.”
