Encrypted Chat and Global Payments for Everyone

San Francisco, Dec 13 — Tools for Humanity, the technology company building for humans in the age of AI, today introduced the new World App, a super app for the AI era that brings together encrypted messaging, global financial access and anonymous proof of human. The launch includes the rollout of World Chat, expanded crossborder financial tools and enhancements to World ID. Co-founders Sam Altman and Alex Blania unveiled the new experience during a live “Unwrapped” event at the company’s headquarters in San Francisco.

The internet and how we interact online are rapidly changing as AI advances. World Network aims to serve as an underlying trust and verification layer for digital platforms and services, with World App as the on-ramp. Today, nearly 40 million people use the app and almost 20 million have verified World IDs. In September, World App became the most-used digital wallet globally by monthly active users (Source: SensorTower self custodial wallets
Monthly Active Users, September 2025), and adoption continues to grow: someone signs up for the app every 1.7 seconds. Every 3.6 seconds, someone verifies at an Orb.

“World shows what a human-verified internet can look like – and how different it feels when you know who’s real,” said Tiago Sada, Chief Product Officer at Tools for Humanity. “World App is a place where people can communicate, send digital assets, save, invest and use apps in one seamless experience. These features aren’t experimental – they’re useful today, and they’re only the beginning of what a human-centered digital ecosystem can unlock.”

World Chat: Messaging for Humans

World Chat is a secure, encrypted messaging experience built for authenticity, privacy and human connection. Integrated directly into World App, the feature marks a major step toward a human-first communication layer.

World Chat features:

Verified human messaging: Blue and gray bubbles to indicate whether a contact is a verified human via World ID
End-to-end encryption: World Chat messages are secured by the XMTP protocol, providing end-to-end encryption that meets or exceeds the standard set by Signal – with no phone number required and no metadata collected
Integrated global payments: People can instantly send or request digital assets to their wallet address directly within chats, across multiple countries and without in-app fees
Mini Apps inside conversations: Third-party apps – such as prediction markets Kalshi and Polymarket, games, and financial tools – now run inside message threads, enabling interactive experiences without leaving the chat
Deepfake-resistant profile photos: People will soon be able to optionally verify that their profile photo matches their real face, improving trust across dating, commerce and community interactions
One Global Account: New Financial Features

The updated World App expands financial access by enabling people to access and use digital assets across borders with ease, all from within the app.

Key updates, where available, include:

Virtual accounts: Powered by Bridge, US Dollar virtual accounts are available in 18 countries, including the United States, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and across Latin America. Users can receive paychecks directly in World App and add funds from their bank via supported partners, enabling them to spend USDC – with no in-app fees
Multi-asset support: Users can now hold a variety of stablecoins, including: USDC, EURC, wMXN, wARS, wCLP, wBRL, wPEN and wCOP with no in-app fees
Earn: Up to 18% APY for WLD, 15% for USDC, powered by Morpho and protected by World ID’s one-human, one-account safeguards
Expanded assets: Support for more than 100 digital assets
Real world spending: Pay at over one million points of sale in Argentina using QR codes. World Card, launching in Q1, will bring Apple Pay and tap-to-pay to the US and beyond
World ID Increasing Trust Online

Tools for Humanity also introduced new World ID capabilities that make digital interactions more authentic and trustworthy, especially in sensitive areas like online dating. These updates follow the April announcement of its partnership with Match Group, beginning with Tinder Japan.

As part of this rollout, Tools for Humanity launched new World ID capabilities:

Verified human badge: A new badge helps users build trust and reduce impersonation on dating platforms
Privacy-preserving age assurance: Individuals can now prove they are above a certain age without revealing identity details
Tinder integration: Tinder now utilizes the verified human badge and privacy-preserving age verification, starting in Japan
Toward a More Human Internet

These updates represent a major step toward a safer, more useful, and more trustworthy digital world. By combining proof of human, messaging, and financial access in one global platform, Tools for Humanity is helping build the foundational infrastructure for a more human internet.
