India’s automotive sector is charting an ambitious course toward global leadership, and Maruti Suzuki is driving the charge with its premium SUV, VICTORIS, exported under the international brand name ‘Across’. The first shipments departed India on January 16, 2026, targeting strategic markets in Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa, as part of a plan to reach over 100 countries worldwide.

Manufactured at the cutting-edge Kharkhoda Plant, the VICTORIS combines advanced technology, versatile powertrain options—including mild-hybrid, strong hybrid, and CNG variants—and top-tier safety credentials, earning 5-star ratings from Global NCAP and Bharat NCAP. Its India launch in September 2025 was met with acclaim, culminating in the Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) 2026 award, establishing the model as a key driver of Maruti Suzuki’s international expansion.

Global Export Strategy

Maruti Suzuki’s export ambitions are aggressive yet calculated. The initial shipment of over 450 vehicles represents the first step in a broader plan to strengthen India as a global production hub for Suzuki. Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa have been prioritized as key growth markets, with the company aiming to expand its presence to more than 100 countries.

The VICTORIS initiative builds on Maruti Suzuki’s strong export record. In 2025 alone, the company shipped 3.90 lakh vehicles abroad, securing its position as India’s top passenger vehicle exporter for the fifth consecutive year. Over the past five years, Maruti’s export volume increased 4.67 times, significantly outpacing industry growth, underscoring the company’s global competitiveness.

Why VICTORIS Stands Out

The SUV blends futuristic design with intelligent technology and comfort, featuring ADAS Level 2 assistance, advanced infotainment systems, and flexible powertrain options. Its global appeal was reinforced at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, highlighting India’s ability to produce vehicles that meet international standards. By delivering high safety, cutting-edge tech, and premium styling, the VICTORIS positions Maruti Suzuki as a global contender in the SUV segment.

Strategic Impact for India

The VICTORIS export initiative aligns with India’s broader industrial vision. By producing vehicles for global markets, India strengthens its role in the international automotive supply chain, attracting investment, creating high-value jobs, and showcasing domestic manufacturing prowess. Maruti Suzuki’s strategy reflects a balance between domestic dominance and global expansion, evidenced also by its re-entry into European markets with the e VITARA battery electric vehicle.

Looking Ahead

With the VICTORIS, Maruti Suzuki is not merely exporting vehicles—it is exporting India’s engineering excellence and innovation. This SUV represents a milestone in India’s automotive journey, positioning the nation as a major automotive export hub and demonstrating that Indian automakers are ready to compete on the global stage in terms of technology, safety, and quality.
