Hyderabad, Feb 24: KL Deemed to be University, Vijayawada through its Skill Development Division, has successfully conducted Phase III of Skill Palaver, a structured, project-based hackathon initiative held during the Academic Year 2025–26. The program is designed for pre-final year students of all Engineering branches, as well as BCA and MCA programs, with the objective of strengthening industry readiness through practical learning and real-world problem-solving.
Skill Palaver follows a three-phase academic model integrated into professional electives and industry-focused skill courses. Phase I – Learnathon (Odd Semester 2025–26) included expert-led interactive sessions where students were introduced to real-world challenges, emerging technologies, and solution-building strategies. Phase II – Internal Review (Even Semester 2025–26) allowed student teams to present their initial designs and proof-of-concept models before faculty mentors for academic evaluation and improvement.
Phase III – Hackathon Review (Even Semester 2025–26) is scheduled in two slots on 21st and 28th February 2026. The first slot, held recently, saw students presenting fully developed prototypes before industry experts. Projects were assessed based on innovation, technical strength, scalability, and practical application. Experts also provided detailed feedback to help students refine their solutions.
Vice Chancellor Dr. G. Pardha Saradhi Varma, in his message, stated,
“Skill Palaver is a strong example of how structured, hands-on learning prepares students for real industry challenges. By combining academic learning with practical exposure, we are ensuring our students graduate as confident and competent professionals.”
The hackathon covered diverse domains such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, Game Design, Embedded Systems, and Structural Engineering. The initiative promoted teamwork, cross-department collaboration, and applied learning across disciplines.
Industry experts from leading organizations including Cisco, IBM, H&M Group, MongoDB, Persistent Systems, ResMed, Synopsys India Pvt. Ltd., Tata Elxsi, Ansys, and Knight Frank participated as evaluators, strengthening the University’s academia–industry connect.
The initiative is conducted under the leadership of Dr. V. Rajesh, Principal, College of Engineering, and guided by Dr. A. Srinath, Dean – Skill Development, along with departmental heads and domain coordinators. KL Deemed to be University continues to strengthen industry engagement within its academic framework, ensuring students develop the technical skills and professional mindset required for successful careers.
