CM Attends 18th Raising Day of 3rd IRBn, Inaugurates Teesta Command Block at Manglay

New Delhi, Mar 07: Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay attended the 18th Raising Day celebration of the 3rd Indian Reserve Battalion at its headquarters in Manglay, where he lauded the dedication and professionalism of the personnel in maintaining peace and law and order in Sikkim.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister emphasised that the primary responsibility of the police force is to uphold law and order and safeguard society from elements that threaten peace and harmony. He appreciated the consistent commitment and professionalism displayed by the Sikkim Police in carrying out their duties.

Highlighting the role of the battalion, Tamang said the 3rd Indian Reserve Battalion plays a vital role in supporting district police by providing armed personnel for security duties. He added that the battalion remains prepared for deployment anywhere within the state and even outside during emergencies, elections, and other important assignments.

During his address, the Chief Minister noted that while compassion, inclusiveness, and forgiveness are essential values, any attempts to disturb social harmony must be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law.

He also acknowledged concerns raised by the police personnel and reiterated the government’s commitment to their welfare through timely promotions, improved facilities, and better opportunities.

Prior to the celebration, the Chief Minister inaugurated the newly constructed Teesta Command Block, an administrative building that will further strengthen the battalion’s operational and administrative capabilities.

On the occasion, Tamang extended his heartfelt congratulations to the entire battalion for their dedicated service to the people of the state.
