Anganwadi Workers Felicitated-Free Health Check-up Camp Organised for Anganwadi Workers

Lucknow, Mar 11: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Anganwadi workers were honoured for their remarkable contribution to child development and community welfare at a special programme organised at a city hotel in Lucknow. The event also featured a free health check-up camp for Anganwadi workers and an exhibition stall displaying locally developed learning materials for children.

 The programme was organised by Sesame Workshop India Trust with the support of Marico Limited. The initiative was conducted under Nihar Shanti Pathshala Funwala, which focuses on strengthening early childhood education and development.

The Chief Guest for the event, Leena Johri, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Women and Child Development, felicitated Anganwadi workers for their outstanding service in rural communities. In her address, she highlighted the vital role played by Anganwadi workers in improving children’s health, nutrition, and early education.

She stated, “Anganwadi workers play a significant role in strengthening the health, nutrition, and early education of children in rural areas. They are the backbone of several health and nutrition programmes, and this day is dedicated to recognising and honouring their invaluable contribution to society.”

Speaking at the event, Sonali Khan, Managing Trustee of Sesame Workshop India Trust, shared that the organisation is implementing an Early Childhood Development initiative in Bahraich District in collaboration with Anganwadi workers. The programme aims to strengthen Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) among young children in 100 Anganwadi centres across the district.

She added that with the support of government institutions and development partners, the quality of early childhood education at Anganwadi centres can be significantly improved.

The programme was also attended by Seraj Ahmad, Deputy Director; Satya Naidu, CSR Manager at Marico Limited; and Vimal Singh, CDPO, Huzoorpur.

During the event, 30 Anganwadi workers from Bahraich were felicitated for their exemplary service in promoting pre-school education, encouraging parental involvement, and supporting the holistic development of children in their communities.

The Anganwadi workers also shared their experiences and insights during the programme, highlighting the impact of their work on local communities. A free health check-up camp was organised for the participants, where health screenings were conducted to promote their well-being.

The initiative represents a significant step towards strengthening early childhood education at Anganwadi centres and enhancing community trust through collaborative efforts between the government and development partners.
