Maharashtra to Drive India’s Next Phase of Nuclear Energy Expansion: CM Fadnavis

Mumbai, May 20: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis emphasized the importance of nuclear energy for India’s long-term energy security on Wednesday, noting that renewable sources like solar and wind power cannot provide consistent, round-the-clock electricity.

Speaking to reporters after attending the TechMahaImpacT CSR Conclave, Fadnavis said, “Maharashtra will take the lead in the next phase of nuclear energy development in India,” signaling the state’s pivotal role in the country’s growing nuclear energy program.

The Chief Minister highlighted nuclear power as a reliable complement to renewable energy, which, while crucial for sustainability, faces limitations in continuous supply. Maharashtra’s leadership in this sector is expected to support India’s broader energy diversification goals and meet rising demand efficiently.
