Bhubaneswar, May 20: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rain, and gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph in six Odisha districts over the next three hours.

The districts expected to be affected are Nayagarh, Cuttack, Khordha, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, and Kendrapada. Residents are urged to stay vigilant, monitor weather updates, and take necessary precautions to stay safe.

Officials recommend avoiding open areas, tall structures, and water bodies during the storm, and moving to sheltered locations to prevent accidents due to lightning strikes. Farmers and commuters are advised to exercise extra caution during this period.

The IMD stresses the importance of staying informed through official alerts and following local safety instructions until weather conditions stabilize.
