June 3: India’s Blue Economy is steadily emerging as a powerful engine of economic growth, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has said, highlighting its growing contribution to trade, employment, and sustainable development.
He noted that India’s vast coastline, rich marine resources, and expanding maritime infrastructure present significant opportunities across sectors such as fisheries, shipping, coastal tourism, offshore energy, and port-led industrial development.
According to him, ongoing policy support and investments in modern ports, logistics, and coastal connectivity are strengthening India’s maritime ecosystem and improving global trade competitiveness.
Goyal emphasized that sustainable use of ocean resources, combined with innovation and private sector participation, will be key to unlocking the full potential of the Blue Economy. He added that India is well-positioned to become a global leader in maritime growth while ensuring ecological balance and long-term sustainability.
