New Delhi, Sep 8: India and Sweden are looking to expand cooperation in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, with businesses and technology companies from both countries exploring opportunities for joint innovation, AI deployment and commercial partnerships.
The discussions took place under the Sweden-India Technology and AI Corridor (SITAC), where the IndiaAI Mission and a Swedish delegation met in New Delhi to discuss India’s expanding AI ecosystem and opportunities for deeper technology collaboration.
The talks highlighted the complementary strengths of the two countries. Sweden brings expertise in advanced manufacturing, industrial technology and research, while India offers a large digital ecosystem, a growing pool of AI talent and significant opportunities for enterprise technology adoption.
Key areas discussed included industrial AI, computing infrastructure, trusted data, digital skills and responsible AI. Participants also examined data governance, localisation, regulation and market access—issues that will play an important role as companies scale AI solutions across markets.
The IndiaAI Mission outlined opportunities linked to AI computing capacity, datasets and models, indigenous AI development, application building, skills and startup financing. Swedish companies were also introduced to India’s growing technology and enterprise AI landscape.
Representatives from Swedish companies including Autoliv, IKEA, Saab, Sandvik, SKF and Volvo Group participated in the discussions, alongside Indian technology firms such as Tech Mahindra, Tata Consultancy Services and several AI startups.
The dialogue also moved beyond broad cooperation, with participants exploring practical opportunities such as pilot projects, technology testbeds, co-development and commercial partnerships. This could give companies from both countries a platform to test and scale AI solutions for industrial and business applications.
The discussions under SITAC are expected to support sustained cooperation between the two technology ecosystems, with a focus on turning shared capabilities into real-world projects, stronger business linkages and responsible AI adoption.
The India-Sweden engagement reflects a broader shift towards using AI not only as a technology tool but also as a driver of industrial competitiveness, innovation and new business opportunities.
