15/5/2024:The largest mall in India will soon open at Delhi Aerocity, near the Indira Gandhi International Airport, redefining the shopping experience in the nation’s capital. This massive $2.5 billion development plan aims to transform the capital’s landscape into a bustling metropolis—a city built around an airport.

Spanning an impressive 2.8 million square feet, the mall is poised to become a landmark destination for shopping enthusiasts, tourists, and business travelers alike. With its strategic location between Delhi and Gurugram, the mall will cater to both the local population and the international community, offering a diverse range of shopping, dining, and entertainment options.

Phase 2 of the Aerocity expansion includes Worldmark 4, 5, 6, and 7, alongside the mall, which will feature underground parking for over 8,000 cars. The subsequent Phase 3, set to commence in 2025, will add 4 million square feet of leasable commercial space and create a seamless district interconnected by cycle tracks and walkways.

The development of this mega mall is a testament to India’s growing economic prowess and its ability to create world-class infrastructure. Bharti Realty, which holds the lease for Aerocity, has been instrumental in bringing this vision to life, in alignment with the lease held by GMR-backed Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) for airport development and operations.

The mall is expected to significantly boost employment, with Aerocity anticipated to house a workforce of 200,000 people and an annual footfall of at least 30 million upon completion. The number of hotel rooms in Aerocity will also increase from 5,000 to 7,000 across 16 hotels, including prestigious names like St Regis and JW Marriott Marquis.

Connectivity is a cornerstone of this project, with the development of India’s first interstate multi-modal transport hub near the Aerocity metro station. This hub will likely incorporate an interstate bus terminus, the Delhi Metro’s upcoming Phase 4 line, and the Rapid Rail Transit System station, ensuring unparalleled accessibility for visitors.

The mall’s design is expected to reflect a blend of modern architecture and sustainable practices, with ample green spaces and energy-efficient systems. It will house a mix of international and domestic brands, a food court with global cuisines, and a range of entertainment options, including multiplex and family entertainment centers.

As the project unfolds, it promises to elevate Delhi’s status as a global city and a prime destination for commerce and leisure. The mall is not just a commercial venture; it symbolizes India’s ambition and its commitment to providing world-class amenities to its citizens and visitors.

There is a tangible sense of enthusiasm about this development, and the countdown to its grand opening has already started. Offering an experience that goes beyond shopping—a place where memories are built and dreams take flight—India’s largest mall at Delhi Airport is poised to become the new hub of the country’s capital, promising luxury, ease, and connectivity.
