Feb 27: Ember, the premium kitchenware brand known for disrupting the cookware space with its proprietary, high-performance ceramic cookware, has announced its entry into the cast iron category with the launch of Everyday Cast Iron. It is the first product range developed by Ember’s Innovation Lab led by Chef Saransh Goila. The move further marks the company’s expansion into one of the fastest-growing cookware segments, as it aims to simplify cast iron usage for modern Indian homes.

Despite widespread ownership, cast iron cookware often remains unused due to concerns around maintenance, rusting, and the complexity of use. Ember’s latest launch is positioned as an attempt to address this gap through material innovation and product design.
The collection reflects the deep expertise of Ember’s Innovation Lab and product engineering teams working across real homes and kitchens to understand usage barriers and evolve through continuous iteration. The range was designed in California with global design firm Box Clever, led by Bret Recor, combining culinary insight, global design expertise, and material innovation to create two cast iron solutions tailored for Indian kitchens.
“This category has existed for hundreds of years, but behaviour around it hasn’t evolved,” said Siddharth Gadodia, CEO, Ember. “Our research showed that while many households own cast iron cookware, regular usage remains limited. That gap between ownership and everyday adoption represents a significant opportunity. For us, the goal was to understand the barriers and engineer solutions that make cast iron easier to use consistently. This launch reflects our belief that traditional materials can be made more relevant through better design and innovation.”
The Everyday Cast Iron portfolio introduces two product pathways. TitaniumClad™ Cast Iron features a proprietary titanium-reinforced enamel coating applied to a cast iron core, designed to reduce maintenance barriers while retaining cast iron’s performance with regard to durability, heat retention and absorbency. Alongside this, Ember has introduced a Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron range made from pure iron and seasoned with grapeseed oil, offering immediate usability with a super smooth surface, while continuing to improve with use.
A key differentiator in the development process was testing across multiple home kitchens and culinary environments to observe real cooking behaviour, maintenance habits, and performance expectations.
“We spent time in real homes and kitchens to understand how people actually cook, clean, and take care of their cookware.” said Chef Saransh Goila, Chief Culinary & Innovation Officer, Ember. “From there, we went through multiple rounds of testing and iteration at Ember’s Innovation Lab to engineer solutions that make cast iron easier to use while also improving consistency. The goal was simple – to reimagine cast iron so people use it every day.”
Ember sees the launch as part of a broader effort to encourage more everyday use of cast iron in Indian kitchens by simplifying usability and expanding practical use cases for modern cooking.
Himanshi Tandon, Co-Founder & CMO, Ember, said,
“Cast iron is more than cookware – it carries familiarity and emotion for many people. But we also realised that switching to it can sometimes feel like committing to a harder journey. Our attempt has been to make that journey easier by reimagining the category inside real homes, with real users and their everyday concerns in mind. We believe there is a large opportunity to bring cast iron back into everyday cooking in India.”
The launch builds on Ember’s growing portfolio of proprietary material technologies, including Arcilla™, Thermoclad™, and TitaniumClad™, as the company expands into multiple cookware categories.
