A key breakthrough came in 2023 with the construction of a 21.78 cubic metre farm pond, supported by Ambuja Cements and lined with a 500-micron poly sheet to prevent water seepage. This significantly cut irrigation costs—saving nearly Rs. 2 lakh annually. Prior to this, tools like the Pan Methi Cutter helped reduce manual effort and post-harvest losses, while sprinkler systems ensured efficient irrigation. These combined interventions enabled Dharmendra to cultivate 30 bighas of land, up from 15, with his annual income rising to Rs. 15–18 lakh, with cumulative savings of Rs. 5 lakh through the various water-efficient, sustainable practices.
“I am very happy with Ambuja as it has brought me nothing but benefits!” shares Dharmendra—a sentiment that reflects the broader change rippling through farming communities touched by Ambuja’s initiatives.
This story builds on the impact Ambuja Cements has created in the Marwar Mundwa belt, where farm ponds and micro-irrigation systems have empowered many like Dharmendra. Through access to technology, training, and sustainable water solutions, farmers are now better equipped to face climate uncertainties and secure their livelihoods.
