Hyderabad, Feb 20: Marking International Urogynecology Day, Apollo Hospitals has launched the ‘Sakhi’ campaign and a dedicated urogynecology clinic to help women seek timely and specialised care for pelvic health problems that often go unspoken.

Many women silently suffer from conditions such as urine leakage, involuntary loss of stools, repeated urinary infections, vaginal bulge due to prolapse, pelvic pain and intimacy-related concerns. These are frequently dismissed as a normal part of ageing or childbirth, leading to delayed treatment and avoidable distress.
The Sakhi clinic, led by Senior Urogynecologist Dr Nirmala Papalkar And Dr Shreeja Gurrala, aims to provide confidential, compassionate and expert care under one roof. The all-women team ensures privacy and comfort, and even offers telephone consultations for those hesitant to visit in person.
The campaign is anchored around the S-A-K-H-I journey Speak, Assess, Know, Heal and Improve encouraging women to voice their concerns, undergo proper evaluation, understand treatment options, receive personalised care and achieve long-term recovery.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Tejesvi Rao Veerepalli, CEO, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, Apollo Hospitals, said “the initiative is a focused, trust-based effort designed to create awareness and provide specialised solutions rather than a mass outreach programme.”
With Sakhi, Apollo Hospitals is encouraging women to speak up, seek medical advice and regain their comfort, confidence and dignity.
