Mumbai, October 30 2025: Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) are at the heart of global innovation, driving transformation across industries from finance and healthcare to manufacturing and logistics. In India, this shift is creating opportunities, but also unfolding a critical challenge. A 2024 report titled “AI-Powered Tech Services” by NASSCOM and BCG states that India faces a 51% talent supply-demand gap in AI and ML, with more than 213,000 positions currently vacant and the market projected to grow to $17 billion by 2027.
Recognizing the urgency to bridge this gap, Berkeley Executive Education, in collaboration with Berkeley Haas (ranked #3 best MBA Program by Bloomberg Businessweek) and the Berkeley College of Engineering (ranked #3 best U.S. Engineering Schools by US News and World Report), in partnership with Emeritus, has announced the launch of the Post Graduate Program in AI and Machine Learning.
This nine-month online program, designed and delivered by Berkeley’s distinguished faculty and domain experts, provides a holistic and application-driven pathway for professionals to build AI/ML expertise. The program balances rigorous academic foundations with real-world applications, enabling learners to master tools, frameworks, and techniques critical to driving innovation and transformation across sectors.
The Post Graduate Program in AI and Machine Learning is designed for a wide range of professionals, including data scientists, software engineers, advanced data analysts, AI/ML engineers, business analysts, product managers, consultants, and non-technical leaders seeking to integrate AI into strategy and operations.
Speaking on the launch, Joshua Hug said, “AI and ML are not only shaping the future of work—they are redefining industries. Through this program, we aim to empower professionals to lead this transformation with deep technical expertise and strategic insight.”
Avnish Singhal, Executive Vice President, Head – India & APAC, Emeritus, added, “India’s AI and ML job market is among the fastest-growing in the world. With this program, participants will gain access to Berkeley’s academic excellence and industry-driven learning, preparing them to seize high-value opportunities across domains.”
The curriculum spans three core pillars: Foundations of ML/AI, AI/ML Techniques, and Advanced Topics with Capstone Project. Participants will learn data analytics, clustering, regression, classification, feature engineering, NLP, recommendation systems, ensemble techniques, deep learning, generative AI, LLMs, and MLOps, supported by hands-on coding assignments, case studies, and a capstone project that addresses real-world challenges.
Alongside technical mastery, participants will gain access to 25+ tools and libraries, virtual labs, career services including IIMJobs Pro membership, resume builder, and career prep modules. Weekly recorded lectures by Berkeley faculty are complemented by live sessions with domain experts, ensuring both academic rigor and practical exposure.
Through this program, participants will be able to:
- Build a strong foundation in AI/ML concepts, statistics, and data analytics.
- Design, train, and deploy advanced ML and deep learning models.
- Explore real-world applications of NLP, recommendation systems, and generative AI.
- Gain practical skills in LLMs, RAG, and AI agent building.
- Apply knowledge through projects and develop a career-ready GitHub portfolio.
Program Details:
- Start Date: December 18, 2025
- Duration: 9 months
- Format: Recorded Berkeley faculty lectures + live sessions by industry experts
- Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree with math/programming knowledge
- Weekly Effort: 13–17 hours
- Certification: Upon successful completion of the program and at least 80% of the program requirements, participants will receive a digital certificate from Berkeley Executive Education
