India, Mar 6: bigbasket, a TATA Enterprise, witnessed strong festive sales during Holi 2026, led by a sharp surge in purchases of traditional celebration essentials. bigbasket recorded 80% year-on-year growth across Holi-led categories, driven largely by sales of gulal & pichkaris, festive sweets, dry fruits, and beverages, as customers prepared for vibrant and convenient celebrations at home.
Gulal & pichkaris witnessed a remarkable 50% surge, as consumers opted for herbal colours, organic gulal, and celebration accessories available on bigbasket, reflecting a growing preference for safe and skin-friendly festivities.
Festive purchases began rising nearly 10 days before Holi, marking an early onset of celebrations across households. Holika Dahan essentials, including pooja samagri, coconuts, and ritual offerings, recorded a strong 83% growth compared to last year, reaffirming the continued importance of traditional observances.
Holi delights such as gujiya & laddoo saw a strong 80% increase, as customers embraced ready-to-serve festive treats for home gatherings. Sweets & dry fruits registered a 60% growth, driven by gifting and festive consumption trends.
Beverages including thandai and coolers emerged as a major growth driver, witnessing a significant 30% rise, as households stocked up on festive drinks and refreshment essentials. Last-minute festive purchases peaked on Holi eve, with instant delivery orders for colours, sweets, and beverages witnessing a sharp spike across cities.
