COWE – the Confederation of Women Entrepreneurs of India, Telangana Chapter; commemorated the 15th Formation Day, today at Taj Vivanta, by releasing a book with inspiring stories of 70 successful women entrepreneurs. Chief Guest Smt Sabita Indra Reddy, Minister for Education released the book, ‘HERSELF’ – A Successful SHE; on the occasion, also present were Guests of Honor Smt Sunita Mahendra Reddy, MLA, TRS; Shri Venugopal Chary, Ex MP, Govt of India. COWE committee members Ms Lalitha Aluri, President; Ms Neeraja Reddy, Secretary; Ms R Ramadevi, Past President; Ms Jyotsna Cheruvu, Secretary; Ms Kalpana Rao, Joint Secretary and Ms Chetana Jain, Treasurer, were amongst those present on the occasion.
‘HERSELF’ – A Successful SHE; is a Coffee Table Book on Woman Entrepreneurs of Telangana, curated by COWE. The book has inspiring stories of 70 select and successful COWE entrepreneurs, almost all of whom are first generation entrepreneurs. COWE has 500 strong members in Telangana alone. The book is a compendium of seventy women entrepreneurs, each of whom is a role-model for young women aspiring to stand on their feet. They laid a strong foundation to their enterprises, despite the adversities and challenges they faced at every step.
Smt. Sabita Indra Reddy speaking on the occasion said, I am happy to know that COWE is commemorating its 15th Formation Day, you all would have faced several challenges, but also tasted many successes and congratulate each one of you for that. There are 70 women entrepreneurs whose success has been shared in the book released today, but my dream is to see 7000 successful women entrepreneurs. Our Hon’ble Chief Minister KCR and IT Minister KTR are keen to see more and more women entrepreneurs becoming successful and are doing everything to encourage and support women to succeeded. The 70 women in the book are an inspiration to the aspiring entrepreneurs. We women ministers and MLAs in the Telangana government are with you in all your initiatives and wish you all the success. The country is looking towards Hyderabad for the prominence it has gained today, we want all of you to contribute your bit in making this city on par with the best cities of the world. My request to you all is to encourage and support the rural women groups to succeed like you. Your COWE’s membership can easily multiply from the current 500 to 5000 without any effort if you encourage these rural women. Even these women can do miracles if given the right encouragement.
Shri Venugopal Chary said, This government is supporting women entrepreneurs by fixing a quota for them in various schemes. Especially KTR garu is keen to see more and more women entrepreneurs. This government has established several corporations and is encouraging women through those including SC, ST, women, also for other castes and economically backward there are separate schemes for the benefit of the members.
Smt. Sunita Mahendra Reddy said, women constitute 10% of all the entrepreneurs in India. Government and NGOs are taking several initiatives to encourage women to become entrepreneurs and successful business women. I am proud to say that the Telangana Government is taking giant strides for developing this state and make this a major hub for innovation and entrepreneurship. in particularly to encourage women entrepreneurs, the Government has created a platform, the WE HUB, to support and guide women with innovative ideas, specifically focusing on financial and technical support, besides creating a supporting community for aspiring women entrepreneurs where they can interact with VCs for funding and also connecting corporates. I am happy that COWE is going ahead boldly by overcoming all the hurdles and extending great support to women. I wish COWE success and continued growth in all their endeavors.
This book is being released to showcase the hard work and success of these women and to celebrate their accomplishment together. They are the pride of Telangana and their entrepreneurial saga needs to be reached out to every women aspiring to make a mark. These stories will inspire and motivate many more in the days to come, says Ms Lalitha Aluri. These women entrepreneurs have proved beyond doubt that they have followed the chosen path, excelled in their respective field and today they are one among the counted dignitaries. Each one of the cases presented in the book have become a success story through sheer hard work, after going through several trials and tribulations. Many of these women have entered hitherto male-dominated professions and proved themselves to be equally proficient and efficient, sometimes even surpassing men and setting new standards for success. It is amazing to read through the stories of these women and to know how they juggled their personal and professional lives perfectly, thereby becoming ‘heroines’ of the modern enterprising society. Individually and collectively these women proved themselves that they are made of a different material. My appreciation and salutation to each one of them for their perseverance, commitment and determination to etch a place for the women in general.
