Essilor India steps forward and Contributes INR 7.5 Million to Prime Ministers’ Cares fund for relief efforts against Covid-19

Essilor, the world’s leading ophthalmic optics company has come forward to fight against COVID-19 and donated INR 7.5 Million for the Prime Minister’s CARES Fund. Essilor is also supporting Government in their efforts to contain the novel coronavirus pandemic in the country.

Essilor has deployed multiple initiatives for those who are working as front line responders and care givers of COVID-19 pandemic. These include the donation of 8000 Plano Eye Glasses to different State departments and other frontline responders and caregivers of COVID-19, which will help to minimize the direct exposure of eyes to the virus. Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri B S Yediyurappa has appreciated and recognized these efforts. Essilor is also supporting the Health Department by distributing over 500 surgical gloves, 500 face Shields masks and sanitizers to BBMP and other NGOs.

Additionally, Essilor is responding to the COVID-19 outbreak with a humanitarian responsibility to Healthstaffs, BBMP staffs, and Para medical workers and has appreciated their efforts of risking their own lives to treat the vulnerable among us. In wake of the ongoing lockdown to mitigate the Covid-19 pandemic, the company through effective use of radio and electronic media, is also spreading the awareness regarding basic eye safety practices to be followed during the pandemic.

As COVID-19 pandemic is marching on in India rapidly, Essilor feels there is an urgent need for more collaborative efforts to assist the authorities for providing facilities that can help curb this menace.
