November 2025, Mumbai: Mumbai’s busy mornings have long been fueled by medu wadas, crisp dosas, and the quintessential Vada pav. Adding a new layer of spice from South India is Nanna House, one-of-a-kind eatery in Bandra with focus on Andhra breakfast cuisine. Unlike most South Indian eateries that lean towards Udupi or Tamil flavours, Nanna House celebrates the distinct comfort of Andhra breakfasts. There’s Pesarattu, Poori Saagu, button idlis with punchy chutneys, and other morning staples that feel straight out of a home kitchen in the land of Vijayawada.
Experience the warmth of home, the taste of nostalgia, and the richness of Andhra heritage at Nanna, brought to life by Mir Aga Syed, the visionary founder of Aegyo Cafe and Dirty Martini. “Nanna” means father in Telugu, becomes the perfect name for a place born out of a father’s wish to bring the taste of home to his daughters, and to anyone who’s ever missed the true flavours of Andhra in Mumbai. It’s an ode to the family and the food they grew up with.
“Being from Hyderabad, authentic Andhra food has always been close to our hearts. My daughters grew up loving those flavours, but in Mumbai, they missed that comfort. Nanna House is my way of bringing a little bit of that home to them,” he says.
This love is now for every Mumbaikar to experience through a menu that captures the true spirit of Andhra mornings. Among the regulars are Butter Idli, Podi Idli, Button Idli (mini idlis), Masala Dosa, Ghee Plain Dosa, Karam Podi Dosa. For authentic Andhra delights, you must try their Specials featuring Millet Cone Idli, Poori Saagu, Pesarattu (Healthy, crispy crepes made with lentils, spices and herbs), Babai Idli (Soft idlis dunked in ghee) and 70mm Dosa, that’s inspired from the 70mm movie theatre screen. Get your kids along as they have a nice Kiddie Meal on the menu with a mix of mini dosas, idlis and button vadas.
No Andhra breakfast is complete without a strong filter kaapi and at Nānna House, it comes with a variety too. From classic Filter Coffee to Iced Filter Kaapi, Oatmilk versions, and the ever-popular Hyderabadi Chai, there’s a cup for every preference.
Nanna House promises to serve you warm memories of Andhra mornings. Whether you’re a local missing home or just want to discover the flavours, visit here for a fulfilling morning breakfast. Note, there’s no fixed seating here, just good food and fast-moving mornings, so come early, and come hungry.
