Annual report highlights key achievements by FPSB and its global network to elevate the global financial planning profession to support financial well-being worldwide
DENVER, COLO – 16 July 2025 – The global leader in the financial planning profession, Financial Planning Standards Board Ltd. (FPSB) is pleased to announce the release of its 2024 Annual Report. The report showcases strategic initiatives and accomplishments undertaken by FPSB and its global network of organizations to strengthen the global financial planning profession and drive growth of the CFP professional community for the benefit of the public.
“2024 marked a special milestone for FPSB as we proudly celebrated 20 years of leading the global financial planning profession,” said FPSB CEO Dante De Gori, CFP. “Our 2024 Annual Report highlights how FPSB and our global network continue to champion the evolution of the financial planning profession through CFP certification — while laying the foundation for its future by exploring the role of AI, deepening our focus on human-centered advice, and strengthening engagement with regulators and consumers to raise awareness of the value of financial planning.”
Key highlights of the report include:
- 20-years of advancing the global profession: Highlights on the progress FPSB and its global network have made in strengthening, promoting and propelling excellence in financial planning over the past two decades.
- Increase in the number of CFP professionals: Strong global growth of CFP professional community by 3.1% to 230,648 CFP professionals to meet the growing consumer demand for financial planning advice, with major growth milestones reached in the U.S. (100,000+), Brazil (10,000+), South Africa (5,000+), India (3,000+), and Ireland (+1,000).
- Stregthening the profession: Key updates to the requirements for CFP certification to reflect evolving expectations of both clients and professionals; release of FPSB’s Psychology in Practice education content to meet practitioners’ demand for research-based strategies to help them build deeper client relationships; and engagement with the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) by contributing key perspectives and insights from the financial planning profession into global regulatory discussions and financial education initiatives.
- Advancing the profession through global collaboration: Focus on emerging trends and progressing global initiatives to strengthen the value proposition for financial planning and CFP certification by convening our global community of leaders at the FPSB 2024 Global Meeting and facilitating best practice sharing among the FPSB network on AI, workforce development, strategic advocacy, and working with allied professions to expand access to financial planning.
- Increasing public awareness and understanding of financial planning: In partnership with our global network, hosting the eighth annual World Financial Planning Day with a global media campaign and local initiatives in 20 territories that achieved an estimated global audience reach of more than 580 million people and supporting the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s Global Money Week to promote the value of financial planning among young people.
