India Weaves National Exhibition Showcases Handloom Heritage at JanpathNew Delhi: The “India Weaves” National Handloom Exhibition, celebrating India’s centuries-old weaving legacy, has opened at the Handloom Haat in Janpath. The event was inaugurated by Dr. M. Beena, Development Commissioner (Handlooms), and will run until November 12.

Organized by the Association of Corporations and Apex Societies of Handlooms (ACASH), the exhibition brings together around 80 weavers and handloom cooperatives from across the country. A wide range of traditional and contemporary handloom products are on display, including famed weaves such as Assam’s Muga Silk, Tamil Nadu’s Kanjeevaram, Uttar Pradesh’s Banarasi, Gujarat’s Patola, Odisha’s Ikat, and Jammu & Kashmir’s Pashmina.

Visitors can witness live demonstrations by master weavers, providing an insight into the skill and precision behind India’s handloom craftsmanship. Cultural performances representing diverse folk traditions are further enhancing the experience for attendees.

The exhibition is also serving as a business platform, enabling direct interaction between weavers, designers, buyers, and exporters. The initiative is expected to boost commercial opportunities and encourage stronger market linkages for handloom artisans.

With a focus on fair wages, sustainable livelihood generation, and the promotion of eco-friendly fashion, the event reinforces the government’s thrust on preserving and expanding India’s handloom sector. Entry to the exhibition is free for all visitors.
