Indian Chamber of Commerce holds its Annual Plenary Session; announces Brij Bhushan Agarwal as new President

New Delhi, October 10, 2025: The Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), one of India’s premier and century-old national chambers, successfully hosted its Annual Plenary Session 2025 at the Shangri-La, New Delhi. The event witnessed participation from leading policymakers, industry stalwarts, and diplomats, marking yet another milestone in ICC’s journey of fostering India’s industrial and economic growth. During the session, Mr. Brij Bhushan Agarwal, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Shyam Metallics and Energy Limited, was formally announced as the new President of ICC, succeeding Mr. Abhyuday Jindal, Managing Director of Jindal Stainless.

The event was graced by Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Hon’ble Minister of Coal & Mines, Government of India, who addressed a distinguished audience of over 200 industry leaders, policymakers, and members of the diplomatic community. During the ceremony, Shri Reddy presented the memento to Mr. Agarwal, marking the ceremonial change of leadership at ICC.

In his keynote address on ‘Vision India @2047’, Shri Reddy commended ICC for its longstanding role in advancing India’s economic interests and fostering dialogue between industry and government. He said, “India today stands at a defining moment in its growth journey—powered by bold reforms, transparent governance, and the collective strength of 140 crore citizens. Over the last decade, our economy has transformed with unprecedented speed, driven by visionary leadership and an unwavering spirit of self-reliance. Industry bodies like the Indian Chamber of Commerce have played a pivotal role in this transformation, serving as strong partners in the nation’s mission to become a developed economy by 2047.”

Accepting the responsibility as ICC’s new President, Mr. Brij Bhushan Agarwal said,“It is an honour to lead the Indian Chamber of Commerce at a time when India’s growth story is inspiring the world. As we look ahead to Vision India @2047, ICC will continue to act as a bridge between industry and government—enabling dialogue, driving innovation, and fostering inclusive and sustainable growth. My focus will be on empowering Indian businesses to become globally competitive while strengthening our commitment to national development.”

Reflecting on his tenure, Mr. Abhyuday Jindal, Managing Director, Jindal Stainless said, “Leading ICC over the past year has been an immensely fulfilling journey. Together, we have deepened our engagement with industry and government, and expanded our focus on sustainability, entrepreneurship, and other crucial aspects. I am confident that under Mr. Agarwal’s leadership, ICC will continue to create even greater impact in shaping India’s economic future.”

Dr. Rajeev Singh, Director General, ICC, congratulated the new President, saying, “Mr. Agarwal brings with him a wealth of experience and a strong vision for the future of Indian industry. The plenary also featured exclusive sessions with Mr. Sanjiv Mehta, Executive Chairman, L Catterton, and Shri Gaur Gopal Das, noted motivational speaker, who shared valuable insights on leadership, innovation, and holistic growth.
