India, 10 September 2025: Indofast Energy, India’s leading battery-swapping solutions provider, has announced the commissioning of its 1000th battery swap station, marking the country’s fastest establishment of such an extensive EV charging infrastructure network. With the latest station now operational in Mumbai’s Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Railway station, the company has successfully created a nationwide infrastructure that supports widespread adoption of electric mobility at an unprecedented scale and pace. This remarkable milestone demonstrates Indofast Energy’s unparalleled speed of execution, operational excellence and strategic vision towards addressing the critical infrastructure needs of India’s growing EV ecosystem.

Indofast extensive network now covers 10 states and 22 cities nationwide, creating a comprehensive infrastructure that serves India’s most critical mobility hubs with Delhi NCR leading with 332 stations, followed by Bengaluru with 259 stations, and Hyderabad with 124 stations. As India’s gig economy experiences unprecedented growth, Indofast Energy’s swift expansion into high-demand corridors and emerging markets has revolutionized delivery operations across quick commerce, e-commerce, and food delivery sectors. The network has facilitated an impressive 39 million+ battery swaps to date, enabling 50,000+ electric vehicles to collectively travel more than 1.06 billion kilometres—equivalent to circling the Earth over 26,000 times. Cumulatively, this has resulted in approximately 55,000 metric tonnes of tailpipe CO₂ emissions avoided, demonstrating the significant environmental impact of Indofast Energy’s growing infrastructure.
Speaking at the 100-km ‘Swap Parade’ organized in Bengaluru to commemorate World EV Day and celebrate this milestone, Anant Badjatya, CEO, Indofast Energy, said, “Setting up 1000 swap stations is not just a milestone to us – it represents our commitment to making electric mobility accessible, affordable, practical and eco-friendly. Our Battery-as-a-Service model has successfully addressed the real concerns of delivery executives, ride-sharing drivers, and daily commuters by eliminating the twin barriers of range anxiety and charging time. When a driver can swap batteries in less time than it takes to refuel a conventional vehicle, we remove the final hurdle to adoption. As we look ahead, our focus remains on expanding this network to ensure that choosing a swappable battery EV becomes the most convenient and economical decision for everyday Indians.”
The network currently supports nearly 78,000 livelihoods across the ecosystem, enabling fleet operators to achieve minimal downtime, significantly lower operating costs, and seamless round-the-clock delivery operations. The impact is particularly significant in the last-mile delivery sector, with two-wheelers leading the charge in battery swaps, followed by three-wheelers and commercial light vehicles. The two-minute swap time allows riders to complete more orders and increase their daily earnings, which has driven adoption primarily in B2B delivery fleets, with an encouraging trend of riders now purchasing their own vehicles instead of relying solely on fleet operators.
To strengthen its battery swapping network, Indofast has made strategic collaborations with leading vehicle partners including Zypp, Omega Seiki Mobility, Shadowfax, Triev, Wickedride, Green Drive, Eveez, Hala Mobility, Rapido, Whizz, bluwheelz and Loadshare, along with key infrastructure partners such as IOCL, Indian Railways, BESCOM, DTL, BRPL, BYPL, STATIQ, Power Pod, BMRCL, MMRC and HMR.
This has created numerous direct jobs while enabling tens of thousands of gig workers and small business owners to transition to cleaner, more cost-effective electric mobility solutions at an accelerated pace.
Ambitious roadmap for future growth
Building on this momentum, Indofast has set an ambitious target to deploy 2,750 swap stations and support 1.5 lakh vehicles by March 2026, significantly scaling up its infrastructure to meet the growing demand for electric mobility solutions. The company plans to expand into five new cities—Chennai, Mumbai, Jaipur, Pune, and Agra—while simultaneously strengthening its presence in existing markets including Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, and Bangalore.
This expansion aligns with Indofast mission of establishing 10,000 swapping points across more than 40 Indian cities in the next three years, creating a nationwide network that makes electric mobility the default choice for commercial and personal transportation.
