Karnataka: Leading South India’s Renewable Energy Transformation

Karnataka has consistently been at the forefront of India’s renewable energy journey, emerging as one of the earliest adopters of progressive clean energy policies. The state has not only achieved key renewable energy milestones ahead of schedule but continues to set benchmarks in innovation and deployment.

With a strong policy framework under the Karnataka Renewable Energy Policy 2022–2027, the state is actively supporting next-generation technologies such as offshore wind, green hydrogen, bio-energy, and hybrid renewable systems. Karnataka is also exploring emerging concepts like peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading enabled by blockchain, enabling efficient distribution and monetisation of rooftop solar energy.

As a key contributor to India’s renewable capacity, Karnataka plays a strategic role in shaping the country’s clean energy roadmap while offering a robust ecosystem for investments, research and development, and industrial growth.

Leadership Perspective

Commenting on RenewX 2026, Mr. Rajneesh Khattar, Senior Group Director, Informa Markets in India, said: Karnataka has been a trailblazer in renewable energy adoption, backed by forward-looking policies and strong industry participation. Today, the state contributes nearly 10% of India’s total installed renewable energy capacity, underscoring its importance in the national clean energy landscape.

As South India’s premier renewable energy sourcing platform, RenewX 2026 serves as a catalyst for collaboration, innovation, and business growth. By bringing together key stakeholders, policymakers, and solution providers, we aim to accelerate technology adoption and contribute meaningfully to India’s ambitious target of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030,” he added.
