KFON Reaches the Milestone of 1.5 Lakh Connections

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 20th: Kerala Fibre Optic Network (KFON), Kerala’s own internet initiative, has achieved the milestone of 1.5 lakh subscribers. The achievement comes as a result of KFON’s steady expansion across the State, extending connectivity to tribal settlements, remote island regions and other hard-to-reach areas. Aligned with the Government’s vision to bridge the digital divide, KFON continues its mission to make reliable internet access available to every household in Kerala.

Currently, 1,50,256 subscribers are availing KFON services. This includes 1,08,336 domestic FTTH connections, 24,192 government connections, 3,503 connections to government and enterprises, and 14,195 BPL connections. More than 3,000 Local Network Providers are partnering with KFON to strengthen last-mile connectivity and enhance service delivery across the State.

Access to reliable internet has become fundamental to education, livelihoods and effective governance. Crossing 1.5 lakh connection mark is not merely a numerical achievement, but a significant milestone in Kerala’s journey towards inclusive digital growth,” said Dr. Santosh Babu IAS (Retd.), Managing Director of KFON. He also conveyed his appreciation to all partners, stakeholders and team members whose collective commitment made the milestone possible.

Looking ahead, KFON is accelerating its expansion across the State, with plans to reach 2.5 lakh connections by the end of the year. Building on the momentum of this milestone, the project will continue strengthening its network and last-mile delivery to ensure reliable, high-speed internet access for households and institutions alike, further advancing Kerala’s journey towards universal digital connectivity.
