Mumbai, Feb 18: The MunchBox Thali Expands to Borivali West, Bringing Its Signature Authentic Thali Experience The MunchBox Thali has officially launched its new outlet in Borivali West, strengthening its growing presence in Mumbai. The expansion marks the latest chapter in Chef Payal Thakkar’s culinary journey, which began in 2014 from her home kitchen in Mumbai. What started as a small-scale operation supported by loyal customers. The MunchBox in Malad in 2020, followed by Fir Milenge by Payal Thakkar in 2024. The launch of The MunchBox Thali reflects a focused, thali-specific concept built on years of hands-on experience and steady growth.

Known for its signature Gujarati and Rajasthani thali experience, The MunchBox Thali combines traditional recipes with professional kitchen standards, delivering wholesome, flavourful, and consistent meals. In addition to its thali offerings, the restaurant also features an extensive à la carte menu, retaining several crowd favourites from its earlier ventures alongside select Indian and traditional dishes.

The 85-seater Borivali West outlet reflects the brand’s philosophy through warm traditional elements, subtle Gujarati and Rajasthani detailing, and a thoughtfully planned layout designed for comfortable family dining.

Many of our patrons asked us to come to Borivali, and that encouraged us to take this step. Taste is our priority, and we never compromise on ingredients or standards. The menu at The MunchBox Thali is curated to ensure balance and completeness in every serving. Each thali features slow-cooked seasonal vegetables such as Surti Undhiyu, classics like Paneer Tikka Masala and Bhindi Masala, freshly prepared Gujarati Dal or Kadhi, Dal Baati Churma, soft rotis, Steam Rice, Pulao or Khichdi, along with farsan including Surti Plaza and Khaman Dhokla. Traditional accompaniments such as chaas and seasonal desserts like Gajar Halwa and Strawberry Basundi add depth to the offering. Signature selections include the Seasonal Sabzi Thali, the Gujarati-Rajasthani Special, and the daily changing Chef’s Special Thali.
