Damanjodi, May 12 – In a significant step towards community development and upliftment of rural infrastructure, the National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), Asia’s second-largest alumina producer, has laid the foundation stone for a new community center in Kardiguda village under the Litiguda Panchayat.
The foundation stone-laying ceremony was held in the presence of NALCO Executive Director, Eng. Niranjan Samal, who graced the occasion as the chief guest. Also present were Group General Manager of Mines, V.S.S. Anand; Group General Manager of Human & Administration Department, Sugato Anand Basu; along with other Group General Managers and senior officers from various departments of NALCO, who attended as guests of honour.
Following a site visit by NALCO officials and local dignitaries, the foundation stone was officially unveiled, marking the beginning of a promising infrastructure initiative aimed at empowering the local community. The event also saw the participation of Ms. Subhasree Bishoyi, Civil Engineer from NALCO Foundation, underscoring the technical support being provided for the project.
A senior NALCO official announced that an estimated expenditure of ₹45 lakh has been approved for the construction of the community center. The funds have been allocated under NALCO’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. The work order for the project will be issued shortly, and construction is expected to commence soon.
The proposed community center is anticipated to serve as a hub for social gatherings, educational activities, and local events, significantly benefiting the residents of Kardiguda and nearby villages.
With this initiative, NALCO continues to reinforce its commitment to sustainable development and the well-being of communities in its operational areas.
