Nilaya Anthology, India’s first international design destination opens doors to Fireback: a culinary tribute to the theatrics and fire-grilled boldness that defines traditional Thai kitchens
Mumbai, 29July 2025: Nilaya Anthology, India’s first international design destination by Asian Paints, is set to elevate its immersive cultural and sensory experience with the introduction of Fireback, the acclaimed restaurant & bar known for its authentic Thai flavours by EHV International, a part of the Old-World Hospitality group. Following the success of Comorin, Fireback marks the second dining destination at Anthology, furthering its vision of blending exceptional storytelling with immersive experiences.
At Nilaya Anthology, every experience is curated to inspire, engage, and spark new ways of experiencing culture. With Fireback, this philosophy extends into the culinary world – where bold Thai flavours meet design ingenuity. Named after Thailand’s striking national bird, the Siamese Fireback, the restaurant is a tribute to the theatrics and fire-grilled boldness that define traditional Thai kitchens. Brought to life by globally acclaimed Chef David Thompson, Fireback offers an unforgettable journey for the senses. From jungle curries and fire-grilled meats to intricately spiced small plates and a distinctive cocktail program, Fireback is a study in balance, boldness, and authenticity.
“Nilaya Anthology is a space where design, craft, and creativity come together to shape a new narrative. With Fireback, we are delighted to collaborate with EHV International once again to bring a thoughtfully designed Thai experience to Mumbai,” said, Amit Syngle, MD and CEO, Asian Paints
Rohit Khattar, Founder Chairman EHV International says, “In 1999 in New Delhi, we opened what was perhaps India’s first pan Asian restaurant, ‘Oriental Octopus’. I always nurtured the desire to open an authentic, approachable Thai restaurant. Enter Chef David Thompson, whose cuisine I have always admired. Our accomplished team of chefs led by Brand Chef Kaustubh Haldipur were extensively trained in Bangkok by David. Our mixologist extraordinaire, Varun Sharma too travelled through Asia to create an ideal cocktail list. We hope Mumbai enjoys Fireback.”
The interiors, designed by London’s Russell Sage Studio with direction from Rashmi Khattar (Director, Design – EHV International), mirror the vibrancy and theatre of the cuisine. From a fluid wave-like ceiling feature to a dynamic bar that shifts with the mood of the day, Fireback’s space celebrates the simplicity, soul, and sophisticated energy of modern Thai culture in harmony with Nilaya Anthology’s own language of material expression and colour.
The restaurant’s arrival at Anthology continues its mission to be more than a design store, it is a living, breathing canvas where lifestyle, design, and now gastronomy interact. As Fireback opens its doors, Nilaya Anthology invites Mumbai to discover the theatre of Thai cooking, the artistry of craft cocktails, and the magic of a space that’s been designed for stories to unfold.
