Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre to host Pop-Up Hakka Chinese with Chef Katherine Lim from 3rd to 5th Oct

Hyderabad, 25th September 2025 – Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre, the loved food pop-up spot in Hyderabad is all set to host Chef Katherine Lim for an exclusive Hakka Chinese Weekend at its award-winning restaurant ‘Permit to Grill’.

Upholding her nomadic Hakka heritage, Chef Katherine Lim introduces guests to her brand of Progressive Hakka Chinese Cuisine going far beyond Hakka noodles and chilli chicken. The special menus celebrate authentic Hakka traditions, festive family dishes, and global culinary influences from Hong Kong, Singapore, Toronto, and Taipei.

Highlights include hearty Hakka classics like Salt-Baked Chicken marinated with Chef’s own rice wine and sand ginger, celebratory Yam Abacus Beads, Xinjiang-style spice crusted mutton and mushroom skewers, and Hong Kong Typhoon Shelter Prawns. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian tasting menus conclude with the indulgent Fried Milk Custard with sesame brittle and ice cream.

In addition to the exclusive pop-up dinners, Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre is also planning a special cooking workshop with Chef Katherine Lim on 4th October 2025 at 1pm. Designed as an interactive, hands-on session, the workshop will introduce participants to the fundamentals of Hakka cooking from festive classics like Yam Abacus Beads to bold street-style flavours.
