Bhubaneswar, Aug 25: The Odisha government has approved a ₹24.91-crore infrastructure project to improve connectivity to the historic Kapileshwar Temple in Bhubaneswar, with the proposed works expected to make access easier for devotees, tourists and local residents.
The project includes the construction of a bridge over the Gangua canal and a two-kilometre approach road, creating a direct road link to the temple.
Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi announced the government’s approval on Monday, highlighting the importance of improved infrastructure around the historic religious site.
The new connectivity is expected to reduce difficulties faced by visitors travelling to the temple and provide a smoother approach to the surrounding area. The upgraded road and bridge could also improve everyday movement for residents living nearby.
Kapileshwar Temple is an important religious and heritage destination in Bhubaneswar, attracting devotees and visitors throughout the year. Improved infrastructure is expected to strengthen its accessibility and potentially support tourism-related activities and local businesses.
The project also represents an investment in the city’s road infrastructure, with the new bridge helping establish a more convenient connection across the Gangua canal.
