The Indian Premier League is home to some of the best all-rounders in modern-day T20 cricket. When we say all-rounders, we mean players who have numerically proved their excellent all-round skills in tournament history.
Yes, we are talking about the all-rounders who have completed 1000 runs and 100 wickets in the IPL.
Getting into this elite club is not easy and these players are at the top of the online IPL betting preference charts.
List of Players With 1000 Runs & 100 Wickets in IPL:
Although there have been many classy all-rounders who have played in the IPL, very few have completed the double of 1000 runs and 100 wickets in the IPL. That’s why, despite having so many all-round performances, we have just four players who are part of this elite club.
Ravindra Jadeja:
CSK’s Jadeja is currently among the most sought-after all-rounder in the white-ball cricket.
- When it comes to the IPL, he has been playing since 2008, when the league came into existence.
- He moved to the Chennai Super Kings in 2012, and his career changed forever.
- He became more ruthless with the ball and went on to make an impact with the bat as well.
- It is because of his longevity that he reached this milestone, thanks to solid backing from skipper MS Dhoni.
- As of now, he has 2692 IPL runs, which is well complemented by 152 IPL wickets.
Dwayne Bravo:
Bravo was the first player to complete the double of 1000 IPL runs and 100 IPL wickets.
- Just like Jadeja, Bravo too has seen his peak years at the Chennai Super Kings, where his slow yorkers made a huge impact against the opposition.
- Although retired from the IPL, Bravo has an excellent record to boast of.
- In 160 IPL matches, he has accounted for 1560 runs and 183 wickets.
- So, not only did he help CSK with his street-smart bowling, but he came in handy with his bat as well.
Axar Patel:
Axar Patel is the third bowler to enter this elite club.
- He started his career with the Mumbai Indians before moving to the Punjab Kings in 2014.
- At the Punjab Kings, he would stay for five years.
- It was here that he would account for the majority of his 100 IPL wickets.
- Interestingly, he completed the IPL double during the 2022 edition in the match against his former team.
- With this, he joined Bravo and Jadeja in the elite list of players who have completed 100 IPL wickets and have also scored 1000 IPL runs.
- As of now, he has played 136 IPL games, accounting for 1418 runs and 112 wickets.
Sunil Narine:
Last but not least, KKR’s Sunil Narine is the fourth participant of this elite club.
- He made his debut for KKR in 2011 and has been retained ever since.
- The reason was his unorthodox spin-bowling skills, which were always hard to read off the pitch.
- Plus, he was a huge hit, opening the batting with Chris Lynn.
- Thanks to a consistent run by KKR management, Narine went on to play 162 IPL games and managed to account for 1046 runs and 163 wickets.
Final Thoughts:
As can be seen above, only four players are part of this IPL elite club where so many of the big names just failed to seal a place.
Look at some of the names: Yusuf Pathan, Jacques Kallis, Yuvraj Singh, Shane Watson—these are some of the quality all-rounders who couldn’t complete the double of 1000 runs and 100 IPL wickets.
In that context, the likes of Narine, Axar, Jadeja, and Bravo have certainly established themselves among the finest all-rounders in the IPL.
Besides their skill set, one thing had played a role in their success, and that was the constant backing by the team management.
While Bravo has retired, the other three will get ample opportunities to expand their wickets as well as their run tally in the upcoming edition.
