RG Stone Urology & Laparoscopy Hospital Kolkata Achieves Clinical Milestone: Successful Modified Radical Mastectomy for Breast Cancer Patient
Kolkata, Jan 16 – RG Stone Urology & Laparoscopy Hospital Kolkata, through its RG Institute of Advanced Breast Care, has successfully performed a Modified Radical Mastectomy with Axillary Lymph Node Clearance (up to Level III) on a 68-year-old woman diagnosed with carcinoma of the right breast. Led by Dr. Tapti Sen, Senior Consultant – Breast Surgery, the procedure reinforces the hospital’s expertise in advanced breast cancer care, delivering precision oncology with rapid recovery.

The patient presented with a painless swelling in the right breast for 1 year, lesion gradually increasing in size. Clinical evaluation and imaging revealed a firm, irregular 3.3 x 3 cm lesion in the lower quadrants, not involving skin or deeper structures, Mammogram and TRU cut biopsy from RT Breast confirmed the diagnosis Carcinoma Rt Breast. Whole Body PET CT Scan reported locoregional disease, no distant Mets. Patient was taken up for surgery – Rt Breast Modified Radical mastectomy with axillary Lymph Node Clearance after IHC done. Before surgery complete preop work up and anesthetic clearance was taken. Medical oncologist’s opinion was taken before surgery; Patient & patient’s relative were explained in detail regarding course of treatment and precaution to be taken after surgery to avoid complication like lymph edema or wound infection. Patient was discharged with drain in situ after 48 Hours of surgery. Patient is doing well. The multidisciplinary team, including medical oncology review, supports integrated care for superior long-term outcomes.
