STMicroelectronics Teams Up with AWS to Power Next-Gen Cloud and AI Compute

STMicroelectronics Expands Strategic Engagement with Amazon Web Services to Enable Next-Generation High-Performance Compute Infrastructure for Cloud and AI Workloads

New York, Feb 17: STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM), a global semiconductor leader, today announced an expanded strategic collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) through a multi-year, multi-billion USD commercial engagement across multiple product categories.

This partnership establishes STMicroelectronics as a strategic supplier of advanced semiconductor technologies and products that AWS integrates into its compute infrastructure. The collaboration is set to enable AWS customers to access next-generation high-performance compute instances, reduce operational costs, and scale compute-intensive workloads more efficiently.

Comprehensive Semiconductor Solutions

The engagement covers a wide spectrum of ST’s proprietary semiconductor technologies, including high-bandwidth connectivity solutions, high-performance mixed-signal processing, advanced microcontrollers for intelligent infrastructure management, and energy-efficient analog and power ICs. These capabilities are designed to meet the rigorous demands of hyperscale data center operations.

The partnership is expected to help AWS customers lower total cost of ownership while accelerating time-to-market. ST’s specialized technologies support AWS in addressing growing requirements for compute performance, energy efficiency, and data throughput, critical for cloud and AI workloads.

Comment from STMicroelectronics Leadership

Jean-Marc Chery, President & CEO of STMicroelectronics, stated:

“This strategic engagement positions ST as a key supplier to AWS and underscores the strength of our innovation, proprietary technology portfolio, and manufacturing-at-scale capabilities. Our advanced semiconductor solutions will power AWS’s next-generation infrastructure, enabling customers to push the boundaries of AI, high-performance computing, and digital connectivity. This collaboration strengthens our leadership across data center infrastructure and AI connectivity, placing ST at the center of the AI revolution.”

Collaboration on Cloud-Based Design Acceleration

As part of the expanded engagement, ST will collaborate with AWS to optimize electronic design automation (EDA) workloads in the cloud. Leveraging AWS’s scalable compute power, silicon design processes can be accelerated, design tasks parallelized, and engineering teams provided with flexible resources to meet dynamic compute demands.

Equity Participation

ST has issued warrants to AWS for the acquisition of up to 24.8 million ordinary shares, vesting in tranches over the agreement term and tied to product and service purchases by AWS and its affiliates. AWS may exercise the warrants over a seven-year period from issuance at an initial exercise price of $28.38 per share.
