“The changing US tariff scenario is certainly a cause for concern, but it also provides a window of opportunity for Indian producers. In comparison with other markets of origin, India fares better in the tariff graph and is fast becoming an interesting alternative. The US, however, is still a mature, compliance-oriented, and highly competitive market. Although Indian toy producers are now more quality-focused and BIS-certified, this might not be enough. Change of mind is needed—towards investments in globally benchmarked process, certifications, and improved manufacturing standards..
Simultaneously, brands have to adapt to the tastes of contemporary families by creating more meaningful, relevant products—whether it is green toys, educational tools, or culturally-specific story formats. If we move conscientiously and purposefully today, India has a genuine chance to make strong inroads in an area that mostly seems crowded. In the next 90 days, we can be in a better position than we thought—with the possibility of generating significant interest among North America’s large box retailers.”
