Toyota Kirloskar Motor Partners with Government Tool Room & Training Centre to Boost Skill Development in Karnataka

Bangalore, 10th January 2025: Reinforcing its dedication to skill development and community empowerment, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government Tool Room & Training Centre (GTTC), Karnataka. The MoU, effective from January 2025, underscores TKM’s role in elevating the quality of training at GTTC centers and Multi-Skill Development Centres (MSDCs) by introducing advanced industry culture, faculty development programs, and modern training materials. By bridging the gap between academia and industry, the initiative underscores TKM’s commitment to empowering trainees with the skills needed to excel in today’s competitive industrial landscape.

 Building on the success of developing 16 GTTC centers, TKM is now embarking on a transformative journey to provide Toyota’s expertise to 16 additional GTTCs, furthering its commitment to advancing technical education across Karnataka. All upcoming GTTCs will be modelled after the Magadi campus, envisioned as a “Role Model” institute, setting new benchmarks in industrial culture and training excellence. This collaboration will also see a significant upgrade to the Multi-Skill Development Centre (MSDC) in Mysuru, enhancing its capacity to support advanced training initiatives.

 Key Highlights of the MoU:
• Faculty Development and Training: GTTC faculty members will receive hands-on training at TKM’s state-of-the-art facilities in Bidadi, including exposure to the Toyota Production System and Toyota Way.
• “Role Model” Institute Development: GTTC Magadi will be developed as a flagship training center, serving as a benchmark for excellence in industrial training and culture.
• Upgradation of MSDC Mysuru: The Multi-Skill Development Centre (MSDC) in Mysuru will undergo significant enhancements to support advanced technical education and skill development tailored to industry requirements.
• Industrial Culture Development: TKM will support the establishment of industrial culture at GTTC centers and MSDCs through tailored training materials and on-site collaboration.
• Sustainability Initiatives: Training on the Dr. Miyawaki method of afforestation will be provided to GTTC faculty, promoting globally recognized green practices.
• Advanced Training Support: TKM will deliver training modules and materials to enhance the knowledge, skills, and attitude required by the manufacturing sector.

 The MoU will be in effect for a period of 24 months, with provisions for periodic reviews to ensure the successful implementation of its objectives. It represents a shared vision between TKM and GTTC to build a robust ecosystem for technical education and employment generation in Karnataka.
