Mumbai, 29th August 2025: The inauguration of the new building of the Malvani Township School in Malad, a BMC English Medium School run by the Prayas Foundation, marked a significant milestone in the BMC’s journey to improve education in the city. The upgraded facility promises not just better infrastructure but also a broader, more holistic approach to education, highlighted by the official adoption of Rangeet’s SEEK curriculum to equip all students with essential 21st-century skills. This will be a part of the social enterprise’s efforts to impact 28,000 Mumbai students in 2025, with the OmniActive Improving Lives Foundation (ILF) and Pratham Mumbai Education Initiative, supported by Nirlon Ltd.
The ceremony was attended by over 400 parents, teachers, students, and community members. Hon’ble Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of Maharashtra, Mr. Mangal Prabhat Lodha, graced the event as Chief Guest. He shared his encouragement for the school’s mission. He also engaged with the children, asking them what kind of equipment they would like to have, and announced a fund of ₹1 crore for the school to set up a science lab, robotics lab, and other essential facilities. He further encouraged the introduction of programs beyond the core curriculum that the school is adopting.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Mukhtar Shah, Deputy Education Officer, BMC, spoke about the school’s journey from its old premises to the newly inaugurated building and outlined the broader scope of opportunities that will now be available to students—ranging from self-defense training to 21st-century skills development through Rangeet, a social enterprise also present at the event, and its SEEK curriculum.
Rangeet conducted interactive activities with parents, teachers, and students, offering a glimpse into the program’s unique approach to education. They also handed out ‘Hidden Culprits’, an engaging educational game that helps children understand their own role in protecting the environment.
Simran Mulchandani CEO & Co – Founder & Karishma Menon, Co- Founder and Director of Curriculum at Rangeet jointly said: “We are honoured to partner with Prayas Foundation to bring SEEK to this school and community. Our curriculum helps children build essential life skills—empathy, resilience, ecological awareness—that will prepare them for the future. We are so grateful to the BMC for the opportunity to work in this state of the art and modern school. The future of our students is in good hands with the care and effort exercised by the BMC Education Department.”
“It’s important for older kids like us to be role models and inspire younger children to do things that benefit our planet” – Student, 9th Std, Malvani Township School, talking about the importance of the Ecology Umbrella in the SEEK Curriculum
The event concluded on a hopeful note, with teachers, parents, and children embracing the school’s new chapter; one that brings together upgraded facilities, brighter classrooms, and enriching programs like Rangeet’s SEEK curriculum. Together, these efforts are helping the BMC English Medium School in Malvani reimagine public education as a joyful, empowering experience that nurtures confident, compassionate, and future-ready children.
