IIAD at 10: A Strategic Expansion into Business Education

Expanding Horizons: IIAD Adds BBA to Its Academic Portfolio

The Indian Institute of Art and Design (IIAD), known for its interdisciplinary approach to design education, is introducing a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) programme starting the academic year 2025–26. This marks a significant addition to its academic portfolio, aligning with a larger institutional vision to respond to emerging demands within the economy and service-driven industries.

As India prepares to become the world’s third-largest economy by 2027 (IMF, World Bank), the need for professionals who can move fluidly between business strategy and strategic thinking is growing. IIAD’s new BBA programme has been developed in response to this shift—blending core business fundamentals with data fluency, leadership development and an ethical, future-ready outlook. Here’s how the programme stands apart:

Future-Focused Curriculum

Structured across four years, the programme moves beyond traditional management education. The first two years build foundational knowledge and applied skills, while the third and final years offer pathways for specialisation—such as Marketing, Finance and Human Resource Management—and culminate in immersive, real-world consultancy projects and a Capstone initiative. Students also have the opportunity to participate in a study excursion that situates classroom learning within domestic or global business hubs.

Industry Engagement: Learning Through Real-World Exposure

The course is grounded in IIAD’s existing philosophy of industry-integrated learning. Students engage with real businesses and organisations, participate in live projects, and attend workshops led by practitioners and entrepreneurs. Recent industry engagements such as the Entrepreneur Summit—have brought together leading voices from the business world, including Ashish Dev Kapur (Founder, Whisky Samba), Kunaal Kumar (Managing Director, Modern Bazaar) and Mohit Jain (Founder & CEO, Miraggio).

Building Adaptive Leaders

In addition to developing a strong business mindset, the curriculum places significant emphasis on technological adaptability, business intelligence and decision-making—skills increasingly critical for navigating complexity in contemporary work environments.

A Strategic Step Forward

The launch of the BBA course marks a significant evolution in IIAD’s journey as it celebrates a decade of excellence in education. What began as an award-winning institution committed to design has now expanded its vision to include cross-disciplinary, future-focused education. With this addition, IIAD reinforces its mission to nurture critical, adaptive thinkers who are prepared to lead and thrive in an ever-changing global landscape.
