Roorkee, Uttarakhand | September 30, 2025 – The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) has successfully licensed an advanced antenna technology to MTEKPRO TECHNOLOGIES PRIVATE LTD, further strengthening industry–academia partnerships in the field of wireless communication and applied electromagnetics.

The licensed innovation, titled “A system and method for gain enhancement in pyramidal horn antenna using band pass gain boosting surface (GBS)” (Patent Application No. 202311057857), has been developed by Prof. Gowrish Basavarajappa and Mr. Kalyan Mohan Patnaik of IIT Roorkee. By integrating a novel GBS, the technology offers enhanced efficiency and broad application potential for next-generation communication systems.

Regarding the development, Prof. Gowrish Basavarajappa, lead inventor, said, “This technology brings a simple yet effective approach to improving antenna performance, which can be critical in next-generation wireless systems. The collaboration with industry will help translate our lab research into practical deployment.”

Mr. Taiyab Zia Ahmed and Ms. Deepa Goyal, representatives from MTEKPRO TECHNOLOGIES PRIVATE LTD, expressed the company’s commitment to scaling the innovation, saying, “We are excited to bring this IIT Roorkee technology into our product line. The gain enhancement solution has tremendous potential for industrial applications, and we look forward to commercialising it for broader markets.”
